Aged Care Reforms Summary

On 20 April 2012, the Government announced its much anticipated aged care reform package, Living Longer Living Better. The package is in response to uniform calls for reform by the aged care industry which is an industry under significant stress due to inadequate government funding, limited opportunities to obtain contributions to funding from consumers, major workforce challenges and over regulation.
This report considers the reforms proposed and identifies the legal and financial implications as well as highlights the areas where more detail must follow.
